What can you do to support?

The following ideas have been developed to help support the campaign, both short-term and long-term. Please try out as many of these as you can. If you have ideas of your own, then please share them via the GGiP Blog.

1. Call yourself a Geographer at all times. When you apply for a passport or renew an old one, put Geographer under Occupation rather than just teacher.

2. Write in to the local newspaper to comment on local issues. Identify yourself as a Geographer and mention the fact that these are issues you deal with all the time in the classroom as part of your work, etc, etc.

3. Add a signature to all your e-mails so that the GGiP details are advertised as widely as possible.

4. You can order real GGiP circular stickers from the SchoolStickers company at this link. Stick them on your mail. Stick one on the Head's desk when he/she is not looking. Put some in interesting places when you travel around. Send one to the editor of your local paper.

5. Order a cool GGiP t-shirt to wear on holiday. Send us a photo of you wearing it somewhere interesting!

6. Order some 'blank' world maps to help promote the GGiP Campaign. Details of how to order t-shirts and blank world maps are on the noticeboard page here.

7. Adam Lawson has produced a video to help promote the GGiP Campaign - details from this link.

8. Join the RGS(with IBG) scheme to become a Chartered Geographer - be proud of your profession. For younger teachers, it is an excellent way to get the professional development that you are already doing, recognised. Details are available from this link.

9. Make sure you support your professional associations by joining up and benefitting from all the hard work that they do. Links to the G.A. and the R.G.S. (with IBG).

So we can discuss campaign ideas with all geographers. Camapaign ideas will now be posted on the GGIP Blog
