The GGIP have been in contact with Harm J.De Blij author of "Why Geography Matters" and Professor of Geography at Michigan State University.

The book puts the importance of Geography in perspective for the reader and therefore has clear links to the GGIP Campaign. You can order the book by clicking on its image opposite.

The GGIP is hoping to get their hands on some copies and present these to various politicians and media groups. This should help raise the profile of Geography at a national level

The BBC in April announced a new series, telling the epic story of the planet Earth. The title of the series is yet to be annouced.

The GGIP have been in contact with Dr Iain Stewert who will present the program and Phil Dolling who is Executive Producer of the series. Both Iain and Phil have been very supportive of our views with Phil stating that the series will be "a feast of Geography". However it is our concern how much the "G" word will be used and the GGIP, arecurrently in communication with Iain to work on when the word should be used.

Monday 4th June Geography was given its place in bookshops.

In bookshops around the country geographers united to survey the country. Do they have a Geography section? If so , what types of books does it include? How long is the section? Are the Geography books in a section called “Geogaphy”?
